Preheat oven 350. Line a 10 inch cast iron skillet with foil and spray with cooking spray.
1 1/2 C plus 2 T sugar
3/4 C ( 1 1/2) butter, melted
2 large eggs
1 1/2 C flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp almond extract
1/2 C sliced almonds
In large mixing bowl, stir 1 1/2 C sugar into melted butter. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift flour and salt into batter. Add flavoring and stir well. Pour batter into skillet. Top with sliced almonds and remaining 2 T sugar.
Bake until slightly brown on top, about 35 minutes.
Cool in the skillet, when cooled lift foil from skillet and remove foil before putting on plate prior to cutting and serving.
